How to Clean an Electric Water Boiler

Cleaning an electric water boiler, and keeping that way, is easy!

Whether you own a basic electric kettle, a Panasonic hot water pot, Tiger hot water dispenser or Zojirushi electric water boiler, cleaning these devices is all done in a very similar and inexpensive manner.

Below, I provide three separate cleaning methods. A way to; 1) quickly clean out your brand new electric water heater, 2) get rid of limescale, and 3) keep your hot water electric boiler clean.

Let’s get started!

How to Clean a Brand New (fresh out of the box) Electric Water Heater

An initial cleaning! If you’re like me you probably feel more comfortable cleaning your new appliance before you actually begin to use it. And at times, it is even recommended to do so. The way I do a first cleaning on an electric dispensing pot is pretty easy.

- I simply fill the electric hot water boiler to its top line and boil the water (at least two minutes).

- Once that is done, I empty out the boiled water and rinse out the unit.

- And finally, with a clean and dry towel I wipe the interior.

The electric water boiler is now ready to be used by the family!

How to Get Rid of Limescale

Limescale is really not bad for your health. However, that hard build up can affect the proper function of an electric thermal pot and it is somewhat unsightly. Right?

Personally, it’s a pet peeve and I hate seeing it. So, I try not to let the problem develop but if it does manage to build up, I get rid of that awful limescale by following the steps described below.

- Pour 2 cups of white vinegar into the inner pot.

- Fill water up to the top water level.

- Let the water sit for 1 hour.

- Boil the water and leave it for 1 hour.

- Empty out the water out completely.

- If the limescale is not gone, repeat the process again.

Note: Many electric water boiler manufacturers have units that include descaling features or recommend specific limescale removal methods. I suggest you try it their way first, otherwise, the steps described above work for me and they should work for you.

Regular Electric Water Boiler Cleaning

As I mentioned earlier, I can’t stand limescale and so I try not to let it build up in the first place. Here is a simple process I follow, every 3 months, in order to keep my own electric water heater clean.

- Empty a half cup of lemon juice into the inner container and then pour water up to the maximum level line.

- Boil the water.

- Pour out the boiled water.

- Fill it up with water again (to the top line) and reboil.

- Once boiled, pour out a bit of hot water and let the rest cool.

- After the water has cooled down, empty it out fully.

There you have it! A simple and easy way to keep your Japanese electric water boiler clean and free of limescale buildup.

In Closing

Keeping your electric water boiler and warmer clean is simple, easy and not at all expensive. You end up with a better looking and longer lasting appliance and that’s exactly what you want when you own a quality product.

Let’s face it, items such as a Panasonic hot water dispenser, a Tiger hot water heater or a Zojirushi electric water boiler is not really cheap. However, I do think that you get what you pay for, and from these guys it means one of the best electronic water heater available on the market.

Therefore, knowing how to keep your electric water boiler clean will help make sure the product lasts a long time and that you get your money’s worth.

Japanese Digital Water Heater Makers

There are a lot of Asian dispensing pots out there and Japanese electric water heaters are some of the best in the world. Maybe the best! Therefore, who makes these delightful machines?

Actually, a number of firms do and to help you get to know some of them a little more I’ve written a bit of information on three of the best electric water heater makers.

Zojirushi

Their name means “elephant mark” in Japanese. They are a multinational corporation that produces a variety of consumer goods such as bento boxes, bread machines, rice cookers and of course, electric water boilers. The company was founded in Japan in 1918 and created the Zojirushi America Corporation back in 1987.

The Zojirushi CV-DSC40 VE Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer is a very popular electric water boiler on Amazon and is number 1 on my 3 Top Japanese Dispensing Pots list.

Panasonic

Panasonic is a famous Japanese corporation and was once known as Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. I think we’ve all seen their plasma televisions, vacuum cleaners, and Japanese rice cookers. They’re everywhere!

Did you know, 100 % of Panasonic’s TVs meet the latest Energy Star standards? They’re a pretty “green” company!

The Panasonic NC-EH22PC 2.3 Quart Electric Thermal Hot Pot also made it into my Top 3 Japanese Hot Pots list.

Tiger

The Tiger Corporation manufactures and sells a variety of kitchen appliances like electric mochi makers, insulated lunch boxes, electric barbecue grills, rice cookers and Tiger hot water dispensers. They were founded in Japan in 1923 and in 2002 they also established themselves in the US.

Check out the Tiger 3 Liter Digital Water Heater on Amazon or see their other well-priced Tiger water boiler and warmers.
